Many people, frustrated with their inability to exercise and to eat a healthy diet end up turning to rapid weight loss programs in a desperate attempt to shed those extra pounds. These diets are really not very good for you and usually results in the dieter reverting to previous eating habits, and usually gaining massive amounts of weight.

So why are these plans so popular, but also so notorious for not producing the results that people want? Sure, they may seem to work well for a few weeks, but long-term weight loss, and indeed healthy weight loss is not what these programs offer. One needs to take a sensible look at one’s lifestyle and adapt it so that steady sustainable weight loss is the result.

People always think that there isn’t enough time in the day to do all the things they want to do, including exercise, cooking healthy food, and basically looking after themselves. This is a very short-sighted approach, and the fact that no human alive, or indeed dead, has ever had more than 24 hours in a day should demonstrate that we are all capable of making adjustments which allow us to incorporate healthy living practices.

Even making a decision to cook your own food from natural foodstuffs, and refusing to buy processed food from the central aisles of the supermarket will lead you in the direction of weight loss. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, with a good amount of protein from meat is really the best way to shed those excess pounds. Combine it with a general increase in activity, which you will come to enjoy if you stick at it for a while, and you will see if your body shape changing, and you will feel fitter and healthier.

I’m not telling you anything that hasn’t been said a million times before, and the fact it has been said so often perhaps indicates that there is some truth in.
