Mio Strapless HRM Watch
The Mio Heart Pro is one of the better quality, "good value" strapless heart watches.
At A Glance
- ECG accurate heart rate without a chest strap
- Percent of maximum heart rate display based on age and gender
- User can set maximum heart rate themselves
The Mio Heart Pro is your standard combination heart rate monitor and wristwatch. It bills itself as a basic device more or less targeted at casual wearers who need a barebones heart monitoring device during their exercise routine. This device really is pretty basic; it doesn''t have nearly the features that several other more advanced models have, but for those who don''t want the hassle of having to deal with functions they will never use cluttering up their watch''s functionality, this could actually be a pretty good thing. The ability to go with a prescribed maximum heart rate or to set the maximum heart rate yourself is actually a really nice feature for this watch; not everyone is going to fit into what the average should be, or the user might be under specific medical instructions not to exceed a certain heart rate. To wrap it all up, as a convenience feature the watch boasts an easily changed battery. This is definitely a nice feature to see.
The customer feedback for this device is positive. It seems that the heart rate monitoring feature of the watch is fairly accurate, which with these sorts of devices can be a hit or miss sort of thing. As a general rule, the devices that don''t require the use of a chest strap seem to draw ire from users for a variety of reasons (inaccuracy, not a continual update for heart rate), but for whatever reason this one has not, so it must be doing something right. Customers also seem to appreciate that the watch is simple to program; considering how frustrating it can be to program certain technologies and the possible backlash of calibrating one of these heart rate monitors incorrectly, a simple user interface is a wonderful thing to find.
The only issue with this device seems to be the price, and even then it''s completely a subject of personal preference. The list price is right at seventy dollars, but the Mio Heart Pro can be bought from Amazon for right under fifty dollars. If the Heart Pro works as well as the customer feedback claims then this is a fair price for this device; the only issue here is that there are other watches from competing brands that offer more features for less money. That being said, some of these devices have drawn criticism for inaccuracy or just being all around difficult to use. If you like to err on the side of caution and don''t need very many bells and whistles on your heart rate monitor, then investing in the Heart Pro wouldn''t be a bad move at all. It seems to be a sound, reliable device with some nice features at an acceptable price.
And here''s what some of the customers who bought the Mio Drive Strapless Heart Monitor have to say about it:
..."everything … is exactly as advertised"...
